Between the two major tennis games, Virtua Tennis was always the more arcade style game, while Top Spin was a more traditional tennis sim. Virtua Tennis 4 stays true to its roots.

Virtua Tennis 4 plays really well. The meat of the game doesn’t feel different than Virtua Tennis 3. Not that there’s a lot that can be improved in a tennis game (it’s essentially a glorified Pong), but it’s hard to get excited for a game I’ve played already. All three versions of Virtua Tennis 4 offer motion control. You swing the Wii Remote/Move Wand/Your Arm to swing the tennis racquet on screen. Motion control is not playable in any of the
game’s main modes, but rather through a special Exhibition mode. Virtua Tennis 4 has an interesting
first-person mode during these portions.
